A Midsummer Night’s Dream

This was a large scale week long production across two locations, all outdoors, put on by Nasu Enzuru - I've worked a fair few of their productions, but this was their largest. This involved a lot of set up, including building the steeldeck stage, lighting rig and full sound system. The tech was essential, the performances ran into the night so lighting was a must and with audience sizes of around 100, sound was also necessary, even just to save the actors voices over the course of the week.

Nasu Enzuru - A Midsummer Night's Dream performed across the River Cam in Cambridge

The sound had its challenges: we were running 14 radio mics outdoors where the range of the transmitters was limited and for later performances, the sound was being amplified across a river - this is one of the few shows I've worked on where you get to the FOH by punt (this only created a few interesting issues to troubleshoot...). That said, we had few issues, the radio mics were reliable and all of the action was well heard and seen, getting a great response from the audience, with plentiful laughs.
