HRSFC General Election Hustings

Coverage of a four party hustings held at Hills Road Sixth Form College, organised by the Student Council, including incumbent MP, Julian Huppert, and the other Cambridge candidates.

It was a four camera rig I organised, with the wide shots from the back right filmed by myself, close ups by Peter Noble and the shoulder rig shots and GoPro from Taha Khan. The audio was more of a challenge – the one lavalier microphone we had available, my smartLav, was on the chair Callum Delhoy, there was a Zoom H1 on the table, visible in some of the shots to pick up the candidates, as well as VideoMics on both Peter and Taha’s cameras. There was then the difficulty of mixing the audio to make the voices most intelligible, avoiding wind noise and phone interference. It was my first online video lasting over an hour and the final file was over 10GB.

Julian Huppert

This was a question and answer session with our local Cambridge MP, Julian Huppert, speaking at Hills Road Sixth Form College.

This video involved coordinating the team to film it and borrow equipment off. We had five cameras for the majority of it, which makes it very watchable, and the audio for the most part sounds nice thanks to a smartLav on him. I was filming from the back with a telephoto (70-300mm). It was then just a matter of editing the 60GB of content together, choosing the best video feed for the moment and mixing the audio.
